Can't Complain Enough?

Bismillahirahmanirrahim...

Gratitude is riches, complaining is poverty. So instead of complaining about what's wrong, be grateful for what's right.

The message was there staring back at my face. I reread it and thought,if my dad were alive, he would have had it photocopied and pinned up in all our rooms.

I'm human and so are you. I do make daily plans, set goals but when something major goes off tangent,it gets on my nerves. But honestly, it takes just a minute to recollect and figure out that things could have been worse:

1) I could have been robbed if I had been at a particular place at a certain point of time. I guess I owe it to the flat tyre.

2)I should thank my lucky stars that it was only a parking ticket I received and not a death threat.

3 I live in a third world country but at least my home is free from landmines.

4. I lost my dad when I was young but I could have lost a precious future if it weren't for my supermum.

5. Most important of all, although my life is governed by rules and regulations, I have a religion that clearly dictates what's right and wrong so that I do not live in confusion.

So who am I to complain when life is so beautiful? Alhamdulillah, among all that I should be thankful for is the fact that Allah made me remember the gratitude I owe him through the note I read that afternoon.

This reminds me of a hadith reported by Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) once told a bedouin who came to see him,

"Be contented, and you will be the richest man in the world."

I couldn't agree more!

Assalaamu alaikum!

This is a great writing here. Very true and a reminder to keep things in perspective. Sometimes, we can make minor things seem major... but when we think about our blessings our concern for them can dwindle.

Also, I found out about you through the Tri-State Muslim writing you posted there. Great job on that one too!

Waalaikummussalam,

thank you for your kind words Dion. Yes, you're right. It takes a minute to ponder that things are not as bad as it may seem to be.

Glad that you like my work. Keep reading and writing!
